| Michael Brannan The Championship continued to be exchanged between players from Florida and California, when Michael Brannan, of Salinas, Calif., defeated Robert M. Steele, of Dunkirk, N.Y., 4 and 3, at the Manor Country Club, in Rockville, Md. Brannan succeeded Gary Koch, of Temple Terrace, Fla., as Champion. The 1969 Champion was from California, and the 1968 Champion was from Florida. Brannan was 15 years, 8 months of age when he won, the youngest Champion ever. He won six matches, and in the 92 holes he played he was only 12 over par. In the final, Brannan won the first five holes and was 6-up after nine holes. Curtis Strange, of Virginia Beach, Va., was medalist with 142. Michael D. Reid, of Aurora, Colo., and John J. O'Neal, of Carmel, Ind., were the losing semi-finalists. |

Junior Amateur PAR AND YARDAGE – For the U.S. Junior Amateur, Trump National Golf Club’s Old Course will play at 7,100 yards and a par of 35-36—71. The New Course will play at 6,998/7,159 yards and a par of 36-36—72. COURSE SETUP – The USGA Course Rating® and USGA Slope Rating® for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Trump National Golf Club are 75.8/146 (Old Course) and 74.3/144 (New Course). ADMISSION – Admission is free. Tickets are not needed for this USGA championship and spectators are encouraged to attend. ARCHITECT – Trump National Golf Club’s Old Course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2004. The New Course was designed by Tom Fazio II (Tom’s nephew) and opened in 2008. SCHEDULE OF PLAY: ENTRIES – A total of 2,916 contestants entered the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. The record of 4,508 entrants was set in 1999.
