| James B. Masserio James B. Masserio, 16, of Pittsburgh, became the first resident of the Northeast to win the Junior Amateur Championship. He was even par while defeating Lloyd Liebler, Portsmouth, Va., by 3 and 2 in the final match on the South Course of the Wilmington Country Club, Wilmington, Del. Liebler, only 14 years of age, 5 feet 5 and 130 pounds, is the youngest player ever to reach the final round. The losing semi-finalists were Mike Spang, 15, Tualatin, Ore., and Gary Bennett, 16, Dillsburg, Pa. All the semi-finalists were young enough to be eligible to play again in 1966. The co-medalists, with 148, six over par, were Bob Barbrossa, St. Cloud, Minn., and Arthur Russell, Lake Jackson, Texas. |

Junior Amateur PAR AND YARDAGE – For the U.S. Junior Amateur, Trump National Golf Club’s Old Course will play at 7,100 yards and a par of 35-36—71. The New Course will play at 6,998/7,159 yards and a par of 36-36—72. COURSE SETUP – The USGA Course Rating® and USGA Slope Rating® for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Trump National Golf Club are 75.8/146 (Old Course) and 74.3/144 (New Course). ADMISSION – Admission is free. Tickets are not needed for this USGA championship and spectators are encouraged to attend. ARCHITECT – Trump National Golf Club’s Old Course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2004. The New Course was designed by Tom Fazio II (Tom’s nephew) and opened in 2008. SCHEDULE OF PLAY: ENTRIES – A total of 2,916 contestants entered the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. The record of 4,508 entrants was set in 1999.
