| Greg McHatton Greg McHatton, 16, of Whittier, Calif., defeated Richard Bland, of Tulsa, by 4 and 3 in the final at the Florence Country Club, Florence, S.C. McHatton's semi-final victim was 15-year-old Billy Herbert, of Roanoke, Va., 3 and 1. Bland eliminated Mike Thorp, of Louisville, Ky., on the 19th hole in the other semi-final after being 4 down as late as the 11th hole. McHatton, outdriving Bland by 30 to 40 yards, was 6 up at the turn in the final, which required only one hour 47 minutes for its 15 holes. Herbert beat the only foreign player in the field, Enrique Sterling, Jr., of Mexico City, by 1 up in the fifth round. The entry of 2,230 was a record for the 14th consecutive year. |

Junior Amateur PAR AND YARDAGE – For the U.S. Junior Amateur, Trump National Golf Club’s Old Course will play at 7,100 yards and a par of 35-36—71. The New Course will play at 6,998/7,159 yards and a par of 36-36—72. COURSE SETUP – The USGA Course Rating® and USGA Slope Rating® for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Trump National Golf Club are 75.8/146 (Old Course) and 74.3/144 (New Course). ADMISSION – Admission is free. Tickets are not needed for this USGA championship and spectators are encouraged to attend. ARCHITECT – Trump National Golf Club’s Old Course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2004. The New Course was designed by Tom Fazio II (Tom’s nephew) and opened in 2008. SCHEDULE OF PLAY: ENTRIES – A total of 2,916 contestants entered the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. The record of 4,508 entrants was set in 1999.
