Billy John Dunn, 17, of the Elks Golf and Country Club, Duncan, Okla., defeated Bill Seanor, 17, of Bakersfield, Calif., 3 and 2, at Purdue University's South Course, West Lafayette, Ind. Dunn, a strong, raw-boned youth who stood 6 feet 5 inches, was even par for the 16 holes of the final.

Californians out numbered Dunn three to one in the semi-final round; he defeated Dick Foote, of Santa Ana, Calif., and Seanor defeated Phil Rodgers, of La Jolla, Calif.

The Championship attracted another record entry of 805 players, and the 128 qualifiers represented 41 states. Foster (Bud) Bradley, Jr., of Los Angeles, was too old to defend.
