Dunn, 17, of the Elks Golf and Country Club, Duncan, Okla., defeated Bill
Seanor, 17, of Bakersfield, Calif., 3 and 2, at Purdue University's South
Course, West Lafayette, Ind. Dunn, a strong, raw-boned youth who stood
6 feet 5 inches, was even par for the 16 holes of the final.
Californians
out numbered Dunn three to one in the semi-final round; he defeated Dick
Foote, of Santa Ana, Calif., and Seanor defeated Phil Rodgers, of La Jolla,
Calif.
The Championship
attracted another record entry of 805 players, and the 128 qualifiers
represented 41 states. Foster (Bud) Bradley, Jr., of Los Angeles, was
too old to defend.
