Warren, III, of Hampton, S.C., who had been runner-up the previous year,
and Henry (Phil) Lobstein, 15, of Brownwood, Texas, the youngest to progress
that far since Mason Rudolph in 1949.
Jr., had passed the age limit and was ineligible to defend. The entry
rose to 747.
